RPRT is an acronym that stands for "Right Place, Right Time." I believe
these are the two key ingredients of an outstanding image.

I'm a photographer specializing in nature, wildlife and travel
photography. I shoot mostly outdoors, and mostly with available light.
I love sharing what I've learned about photography, art, travel, and life
in general.

I welcome your comments and questions.

  4. Congratulations on your blogging awardsβ€”you have some GORGEOUS photos here. I look forward to exploring more.

And thanks for following my blog, and for the Versatile Blogger nomination, it means a lot to me. I sadly have to decline acceptance, because my extremely limited time prevents me from following up properly on the conditions of such awards that require me to nominate blogs in turn (see the “Thank you” page on my blog for a fuller explanation). But that doesn’t mean the nomination isn’t very, VERY much appreciated!

    • Hi Micro…

Thanks for the kudos. It’s nice to be appreciated.

Re your declination, I understand perfectly, and thanks for taking the time to explain it. (I read your “Thank You” page as well.) It is indeed time-consuming to pass on other blogger’s sites and links, and I understand why you don’t.

For me, I feel it’s good karma to “pay it forward,” and will continue to do so until it becomes overwhelming. On my first two awards, I recommended blogs I already subscribed to, which was a simple matter of cutting and pasting links, and for the most recent award, I decided to pass on two friends and then search out 13 new bloggers. It took several hours to find the new folks I liked. My self-imposed criteria were that I would look at up to five of their images, and I had to genuinely “LIKE” at least three of those five images. It was a labor of love, and I discovered and subscribed to 13 new (to me) and wonderful blogs. But indeed, it isn’t something the average blogger can find the time to do daily, or even weekly.

So thanks again for sharing your thoughts on this, and happy shooting…and blogging! πŸ™‚

  6. Great shots. Thanks for the like and the follow of my blog.

    • Nice to see you making such good use of the food you grow. Do you ever publish recipes? Your apricot jam looked wonderful!

      RPRT Photo

      • The jam recipe that I use is from the SureJell Pectin package. Inside the box of pectin is a paper with several recipes. The cookbook was given to me my a dear friend. The jam recipes in this book do require a bit more patience and time and a good candy thermometer helps. If you would like to try one of these recipes let me know. Have a good day!

      • Hi GGP,

Well, I do have a good candy thermometer, since I used to make my own goat cheese. The problem is that it’s hard to get good (homegrown) apricots. The ones in the stores are picked green and hard and never ripen properly, and are expensive besides.

But if you ever feel like posting the cobbler recipe, now that’s more my speed. Plus I imagine it can be used with many different fruits.

        Happy growing (and cooking…and canning…and baking…),
        RPRT Photo

      • I know that finding fresh from the garden food is challenging unless you have a Farmer’s Market. We planted this particular variety of “Chinese” apricots because they are the smaller, more flavorful variety. I have never found them for sale anywhere. We also have our own pie cherry trees (Montmorency) because they too are hard to find.
Yes the cobbler recipe can be used with a variety of fruits. I will work on getting the recipe posted soon. πŸ™‚

  7. I agree with the “right place, right time” principle. I look forward to following your work. And thanks for following mine too. πŸ™‚

    • Hi LBT,

“Right Place, Right Time” can be an entire life philosophy, but in my case it definitely applies to photography. I had a photography instructor tell me once that the difference between professional and amateur photographers is that the amateurs shoot when the light is awful, and the pros don’t bother.

      Cheers!

Thanks for the nomination for the Liebster Award. I’m glad you like my blog.

I have to decline because I already received the award (see post from 06.18.12). I’ve just been lazy about posting award icons (other than the Freshly Pressed one).

Please keep reading and I welcome your future comments.

  12. “RPRT” is perfect!! I always tell people that I was lucky when I have had a particularly great shot. Of course there is skill involved, but there sure is a while lot of luck also! I enjoy your blog and look forward to seeing more!

    • Thanks, Jessica.

You’re right, the concept of “Right Place, Right Time” does have an certain element of luck to it. But I’m also fond of saying that luck favors the prepared. Which is why my camera equipment lives in my car, and my camera/phone lives within arm’s reach. About the only time I’m away from a photo-making device is when I’m in the shower!

So be lucky, and as the Boy & Girl Scouts say, be prepared!

      Happy shooting,
