The bow of a fishing boat moored alongside a canal in Amsterdam advertises its quarry:  haddock.  Similar to cod, haddock is often used in fish & chips in Great Brittain.  It’s also popularly served smoked in many places.  Evidently Grimsby, Great Brittain has elevated the smoking of haddock to a fine art.

Did you ever get scrod in Boston?  (I know, bad joke.)  “Scrod” refers to the size of the fish, not the species, and haddock and cod are the most common fish thus sold.

Let’s hear it for haddock:  the OTHER white meat!

    • I don’t know, Lyle…I hear it’s also possible to get scrod in Canada… 😉
