Easy Rider

Although I took this image in Havana in 2013, it has a timelessness that appeals to me.  It could easily have been taken in Italy in 1983 or in France in 1953.  I love the way the rider is dressed in loose, flowy clothing.  I love the hat.  I even love the cigarette hanging out of his mouth as he pedals along!

I desaturated the colors and softened the focus to give this image an old feel, but there isn’t anything in the image that dates it any time in the last 50 or 60 years.  How fun is that?

  1. That’s Cuba. I like the idea of ‘ageing’ the image as you have. It’s very effective. Maybe I should try it on some.

  2. Hey Dave,

Yes, I heartily recommend playing with some of your images. It seems to be all the rage, with dozens of apps so folks can do it right on their phones.

This particular image was shot with a 35mm DSLR, and tweaked a bit on my computer.

I look forward to seeing some of your experiments! 🙂
