Like the Oldsmobile, pumpkins have experienced a metamorphosis in my lifetime.  No longer smooth, round and orange, they now come in an overwhelming variety of shapes, colors and textures.

Some are elegantly understated, some are bright and gaudy, and some look like they could use the help of a dermatologist…stat!

I’m endlessly surprised and delighted by the variety.

Vive la difference!

  1. No kidding.

    • Hi Lyle,

Are you shooting any pumpkins up in Canada? Are you guys as obsessed with Halloween as we are?

      • I grew pumpkins years ago but they were just the orange ones.Every year after the first year they were smaller – beginner’s luck. Some people do a lot for Halloween. Mostly it’s about the kids dressing up and going out for candy or in my case handing it out.

  2. wonderful !!!
    yes, vive la difference 🙂

    • Hi Vento,

Variety is the spice of life, is it not? (I wish I could say that in Italian!)

      • yes, the differences (variety) are the spice of life!!

Also in Italy, this rule is very popular. 🙂

  3. Reblogged this on filmcamera999 and commented:
    great colours!

  4. Who knew! I have seen the typical squash in the grocery store, nothing so fabulous as this. Love the colours. Did you encounter them this way, or was there some ‘positioning’ involved?

    • There was exactly ZERO positioning involved in any of my pumpkin images! I shot them exactly as I found them.
