Yes, it’s a real duck.
No, I have no idea why it’s sitting on a boxwood hedge. It was in a safe place with no predators nearby, and it was very close to a pond.
Has anyone ever seen ducks do this?

I know what you mean. Ducks can be pretty silly in their own right, but a duck sitting on a hedge is so incongruous….
